Kate and Bob Rost have retired and are moving into their downsized home. They have asked you to design a kitchen for them with the following qualities:

They want a warm, comfortable space with eating for the two of them.

They are looking for quality, sustainable products as they each care deeply about the environment.

They are willing to pay for quality products, but their budget is not expansive, so they have asked you to make suggestions as to where their money would be best spent.

As they are in their mid-60’s and intend to stay in this home, they want suggestions to allow them to be able to cook in this kitchen for a long time.

They are avid outdoors people, spending time biking, hiking and occasionally invite a few friends for meals, including their grandchildren. They have a separate dining area for entertaining.

As far as appliances, they need a 33” wide refrigerator, a dishwasher and electric range. They are OK with an over the range microwave, but are interested in other location options as well. They also prefer a 27” single bowl sink.

Finally, since this is new construction, they have some flexibility with locations of electric and plumbing.
